Redevelopment, Stockport

We won a competition to design the external spaces for a mixed use urban redevelopment project in 2005, for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council & Equity Housing Group.

The area of existing public open space was to be maintained but reconfigured. We proposed four different but related areas, with distinct character to encourage people to use them.

Consultations with local people led to adjustments of the proposals. Notably, the change from our originally proposed wild flower planting near the housing to a low-pollen alternative because a significant number of young people were affected by hay fever. If we hadn't asked we wouldn't have known about that...
